My first clay experience was a hand-building class I took in college at the University of Puerto Rico. That started me on my love of clay.
But it wasn't until I moved to Cape Cod and my two children were grown that I have been able to get back to it. There are so many wonderful potters on Cape and I have taken some grade classes and workshops here. I love to travel and have been inspired by Mexican, Spanish, Italian, central and south American pottery. While in Africa, the beautiful Kazuri Clay beads from Kenya I saw got me interested in making beads. From there I decided I wanted to combine my beads with silver, natural stones, wood and handmade glass. I now collect the beads in my travels or have friends send me them from all over the world. I find the functional quality of the final piece of jewelry or pottery is most rewarding to me: A work of art to be used or touched every day.
